Al-Alaq
سُورَةُ العَلَقِ - The Clot
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
Interpretation:
Recite in the name of your Lord who created -
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Interpretation:
Created man from a clinging substance.
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
Interpretation:
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
Interpretation:
Who taught by the pen -
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Interpretation:
Taught man that which he knew not.
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
Interpretation:
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
Interpretation:
Because he sees himself self-sufficient.
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
Interpretation:
Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
Interpretation:
Have you seen the one who forbids
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
Interpretation:
A servant when he prays?
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
Interpretation:
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
Interpretation:
Or enjoins righteousness?
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
Interpretation:
Have you seen if he denies and turns away -
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Interpretation:
Does he not know that Allah sees?
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
Interpretation:
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock -
نَاصِيَةٍۢ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۢ
Interpretation:
A lying, sinning forelock.
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
Interpretation:
Then let him call his associates;
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
Interpretation:
We will call the angels of Hell.
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
Interpretation:
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ 1 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ 2 ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ 3 ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ 4 عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ 5 كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ 6 أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ 7 إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ 8 أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ 9 عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ 10 أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ 11 أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ 12 أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ 13 أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ 14 كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ 15 نَاصِيَةٍۢ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۢ 16 فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ 17 سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ 18 كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩ 19
